On Friday, October 6, as part of the 16th Ecumenical Social Week in Lviv, a discussion "Catholic Social Teaching and Prospects for a New Postwar Social Contract in Ukraine" was held. The event was organized by the UCU Ethics. Politics. Economics Program. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Yuriy Pidlisnyi, head of the UCU Department of Political Science, President of the UGCC Commission on Family and Laity.

"Information war is a war for reality" - discussion on the role of mass media and communications

Has the world been "vaccinated" against Russian propaganda? As part of the 16th Ecumenical Social Week, Sofia Kochmar-Tymoshenko, Kateryna Lykhoglyad, Andriy Saichuk, and Rev. Ihor Yatsiv discussed the role of media and communications. The meeting was moderated by Rev. Andriy Shestak, director of the UCU School of Journalism and Communications.

How does war impact the environment: research project presented within the Ecumenical Social Week

On Friday, October 6, within the framework of the 16th Ecumenical Social Week in Lviv, a roundtable discussion "Environment and War in Ukraine: Consequences and Prospects for Recovery" was held. The discussion focused on the impact of the war on the environment and whether it is possible to distinguish intentional crimes of ecocide from unintentional ones. The participants also considered the consequences of the war and its possible impact in the long term, in particular, the consequences of the Kakhovka dam blowing up for the ecology of southern Ukraine and the Black Sea region.

Ukrainian Christian Academic Society discusses ecumenism in Ukraine during the war

The events in Ukraine and their church dimension have a significant impact on international church processes and relations. On Thursday, October 5, the Ukrainian Christian Academic Society held a roundtable discussion "Ecumenism in Ukraine During the War, Consequences for the Future." How does our Ukrainian ecumenism influence global processes? How are churches changing their attitudes toward the issue of war and peace? What new things can Ukrainian churches offer through their dialogue or dialogue with society? These and many other questions were discussed at the roundtable.

In the framework of the 16th Ecumenical Social Week in Lviv scholars, educators, teachers, public leaders, and government officials from 7 countries discussed the issue of emigration of Ukrainian children, ways to return them, and creating accessible conditions for Ukrainian education.
